Color portrait of President Bush on the rocky Maine coastline 

George Herbert Walker Bush, 1924–2018.  41st President of the United States, 1989–1993.  8” x 10” color portrait photograph signed George Bush.

This photograph, by official White House photographer David Valdez (1949–), shows a pensive President Bush on a chilly day on the rocky New England coastline at Walker’s Point at Kennebunkport, Maine, the site of the Bush family’s summer retreat.  The President wears a sweater under a black leather bomber jacket.  The jacket bears two patches—on Bush’s right, the embroidered presidential coat of arms, and on his left, an imprinted military eagle above the simple wording george bush / lt. usnr.  A microphone is clipped to the right side of the jacket, indicating that Bush was recording video, perhaps for an interview. 

This is a beautiful photo in extra fine condition.  Bush has inscribed and signed it in black felt-tip pen.  For the sake of full disclosure, we note that there are tiny brushing marks on a couple of letters in Bush’s last name, undoubtedly from his hand.  They are not noticeable except upon close inspection.

The photograph is not inscribed, so it is perfect for framing for display.
