1811005 Colin Powell Scroll down to see images of the item below the description Pristine signed photo of Powell as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Colin Luther Powell, 1937–. General, United States Army; National Security Advisor, 1987–1989; Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, 1989–1993; United States Secretary of State, 2001–2005. Color 8” x 10” portrait photo boldly signed Cl. L. Powell. This is beautiful signed photo of General Powell as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, a position that he held under Presidents George H. W. Bush and Bill Clinton. The highly decorated General is seated before the American flag and the flag of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. Our research shows that the photo was likely taken in November 1989, shortly after Powell became Chairman, but in any event the presence of the Chairman’s flag shows that it certainly was taken between October 1, 1989, when he became Chairman, and September 30, 1993, when he retired from the Army when his term as Chairman ended. At age 52, Powell, was the youngest commissioned officer to serve as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The son of Jamaican immigrants, he was also the first African-American to serve both as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and as the United States Secretary of State. This pristine lithographic photo is in extra fine condition. Powell has signed in black felt tip pen in the bottom white margin. Unframed. |
