Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972. 33rd President of the United States, 1945-1953. Beautiful 10½" x 13½" black-and-white portrait photograph inscribed and signed Kindest regards to Hon. John J. Tigert, Pres. / Un. of Fla. / Harry S. Truman.
Truman signed this photograph as President. According to the records of the Library of Congress, this photo was taken June 27, 1945, a little more than two months after Truman became President. Truman has inscribed it to John J. Tigert (1882-1965), who was the President of the University of Florida from 1928 to 1947. Hence Truman had to sign the photo as President sometime between 1945 and 1947.
This photograph is in very fine condition, with only a couple of very minor chips in the right edge of the paper, well removed from both the image and the signature. Truman has inscribed and signed in brown ink.
