Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972.  33rd President of the United States, 1945-1953.  Typed Letter Signed, Harry S. Truman, one page, 7" x 9", on engraved stationery of The White House, Washington, October 27, 1950.

Truman writes in praise of J. Howard McGrath, who, as chairman of the Democratic National Committee, helped secure Truman's upset victory over Republican Thomas E. Dewey in the 1948 presidential election.  In part: “I am certainly happy that Howard McGrath did such an outstanding job in Chicago.  I think he has what it takes."

This letter bears a beautiful, bold 3" signature by Truman in black fountain pen.  The integral leaf has been removed, but otherwise the letter has only one normal mailing fold, which does not affect the signature, and a slight indentation in the upper right margin.  The letter is in very fine condition.

Unframed.
