Mahlon Pitney

Mahlon Pitney, 1858-1924.  Associate Justice, United States Supreme Court, 1912-1922. Scarce Typed Letter Signed, Mahlon Pitney, one page, 8" x 10½", on engraved stationery of the Supreme Court of the United States, Washington, D.C., July 9, 1917.

Pitney has boldly signed this letter in blue.  The letter has pin holes at the upper left and both horizontal and vertical mailing folds, one of which crosses the "n" in Pitney's signature, but overall is in very fine condition.

Pitney's letters are scarce, and he is one of the most difficult Supreme Court Justices to acquire autographically.  This is a nice example on Supreme Court stationery.
