Amos Alonzo Stagg
Signature of the renowned pioneer college coach
Amos Alonzo Stagg, 1862–1965. American athlete and pioneer college coach. Bold signature, Amos Alonzo Stagg, on a 3" x 5" white index card.
Stagg has signed in black fountain pen. The card is toned around the signature from prior framing. The card is also torn and cut in the lower right quadrant, and there is tape in the corners and along the damage, well removed from the signature.
The piece is accompanied by the original mailing envelope postmarked at Chicago, Illinois, November 17, 1932, with Stagg's name written in pencil in another hand at the upper left.
Overall the signature is in fine condition and the card is poor to fair. The piece would be excellent for reframing to mat out the imperfections in the card.
