Very nice The White House card signed by the President

Herbert Clark Hoover, 1874–1964.  31st President of the United States, 1929–1933.  The White House card boldly signed, Herbert Hoover, in black ink.

This is a very nice example of one of President Hoover’s The White House cards.  Hoover has signed it in black fountain pen.

This card is desirable not only because of its condition but because, as the leading authorities on these cards note, Hoover’s signed The White House cards “are vanishing.”  Lynne E. Keyes & Stephen Koschal, The History of Collecting Executive Mansion, White House, and The White House Cards 59 (2d ed. 2006).  Indeed, we found only eight Hoover cards offered at auction in the three years from 2013 through 2015.  “Savvy collectors are realizing that items signed by Herbert Hoover as President are becoming desirable,” since his “signatures as president are not that common in any form.”  Id.

This card has a couple of tiny stains that are hardly visible with the naked eye and mounting traces on the back from prior mounting in an album.  The card is in fine condition.
