Warren E. Burger

Warren Earl Burger, 1907-1997.  Chief Justice of the United States, 1969-1986.  Burger's book, The Constitution:  Foundation of Our Freedom, boldly inscribed “For William G. Carr / Some light bedtime reading" and signed Warren E. Burger on the title page.

Burger is scarce in autographic material, and this is the first book of this type that we have seen.  Burger's inscription is a nice substitute for an autograph note signed, and the association with the Constitution is particularly desirable.  The book has light wear to the cover but otherwise is in excellent condition, and both the inscription and Burger's signature are bold.
