Ulysses S. Grant, born Hiram Ulysses Grant, 1822-1885.  Union General, American Civil War, 1861-1865; 18th President of the United States, 1869-1877.  Autograph Note Signed, U. S. Grant, as President, August 18, 1876.

Grant writes a brief note to W. S. Reynolds on a 2" x 3½" card.  In full:  “With thank [sic] for the contents of your letter,  /  Yours Truly  /  U. S. Grant."  Grant has dated the note in his hand, “Aug. 18th 1876."

Grant's handwriting and signature are in bold, black ink.  The card has a bit of staining and soiling, and there are mounting remnants on the reverse.  The piece is in fine condition overall.
