George William Frederick, 1738-1820.  King of Great Britain and Ireland, 1760-1820; nominally King of France, 1760-1801; King of Hanover, 1814-1820.  Manuscript Document Signed, George R, two pages (recto and verso), 9˝” x 14”, Court of St. James’s, May 26, 1768.

In this document, the King authorizes a general court martial to try and sentence a Private Grenadier in the Troop of House Grenadier Guards for disobedience of orders and insolent behavior behavior toward a lieutenant.

George III has signed this document with a large 2˝” signature.  The paper and wax seal is intact.  The document has three horizontal folds, fortified in places with tape; a small hole in the upper fold, barely touching one letter of text on the verso; considerable edge chipping with some loss of text; and a pencil notation of the date at the top of the front page.  Overall the document is in fair to good condition, and the signature is very fine.

Unframed.
