907202 Harry S. Truman Scroll down to see images of the item below the description
Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972. 33rd President of the United States, 1945-1953. Vintage 1950 dinner program signed Harry S. Truman. This program is from the 1950 annual dinner of the White House Correspondents' Association at the Statler Hotel in Washington, D.C. It bears a beautiful vignette of the south front of the White House, including Truman's famous balcony. Truman has boldly signed it in black fountain pen. The program comes from the estate of Felix Belair (1908-1978), who was the longtime White House correspondent for The New York Times. At the time of his death, Belair had served in the Times' Washington bureau longer than any reporter in its history. There are two small stains at the upper right corner of the cover, well removed from the signature. Slight dampstaining touches the signature in a couple of places, but it does not detract from its overall beauty and boldness of the signature. The program is in fine condition. Unframed.
