Adolf Hitler (1889-1945), Führer and Reich Chancellor of Nazi Germany, 1933-1945, and Walter Buch (1883-1949), President of the Nazi party Supreme Court and father-in-law of Martin Bormann. Scarce early typewritten Document Signed, Adolf Hitler, one page (recto and verso), 7¾” x 9”, Munich, Germany, March 31, 1927, annotated with an Autograph Note Signed, Walter Buch.

This is the earliest Hitler piece that we have ever seen on this letterhead, which is of the Munich headquarters of the Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiter-Partei, the N.S.D.A.P. or National Socialist German Workers’ Party—the Nazi party.  The address is Schellingstraße 50 in Munich, the studio of Heinrich Hoffmann, the official Nazi party photographer whose images of Hitler are the finest extant.  Hitler’s mistress, Eva Braun, worked in Hoffman’s shop, and it was there that Hitler first met her.  Schellingstraße 50 housed the Nazi party headquarters from 1925 until 1931.

In this document, at the request of the Supreme Commander of the the Sturmabteilung, or SA, the Nazi storm troops, Hitler expels a member from the Nazi party for failure to attend an SA meeting.  In the last paragraph, Hitler demands that the member turn in his member book and party badge.  The member’s appeal is typewritten and signed by him on the reverse.  He argues that he was absent because of his work schedule and that he will report for duty immediately if he is allowed to remain in the party.  A typed note by the Supreme Commander’s adjutant and Buch’s handwritten, signed note are also on the reverse.

The piece has toning, horizontal and vertical folds, minor edge splits, archival repairs to filing holes, and a pencil note in another hand identifying Buch.  Overall it is in very good to fine condition.

We reject Nazism and all that it represented.  We nevertheless offered this piece because of its scarcity and because of the undeniable role that the Third Reich played in the 20th Century.

Unframed.
