Franklin Delano Roosevelt, 1882-1945.  32nd President of the United States, 1933-1945.  Typed Letter Signed, Franklin D. Roosevelt, one page, 7" x 8⅞", with integral leaf attached, on stationery of The White House, Washington, [D.C.], April 28, 1933.

President a little less than nine weeks, Roosevelt sends his "personal word of sincerest thanks" to Wall Street financier S. R. Bertron, who had written him in March, the month of his inauguration.

Samuel Reading Bertron (1865-1938) was president of the New York international banking firm Bertron, Griscom & Company.   He was also a director of the American-Russian Chamber of Commerce, which promoted economic, commercial, and industrial relations between the United States and the Soviet Union.  Roosevelt had an association with Bertron from at least early 1921, when Bertron, one of several financiers who sought to develop commercial airship operations in the United States, obtained the assistance of Roosevelt, the former Assistant Secretary of the Navy and former Democratic vice presidential nominee, to introduce his colleagues to potential investors.  Roosevelt corresponded with Bertron while he was governor of New York.

This letter bears a beautiful blue fountain pen signature by Roosevelt.  It has one normal mailing fold and is in very fine condition overall.

Unframed.
