Harry S. Truman

Harry S. Truman, 1884-1972.  33rd President of the United States.  Candid 8 x 10 photograph of a smiling Truman inscribed and signed, Best wishes to  /  Al Bloom  /  Harry S. Truman.

This wonderful photo shows Truman on the rear platform of the Ferdinand Magellan, the railroad car in which he ran his whistle stop campaign in 1948, with the presidential seal prominently displayed.  It was taken when Truman visited Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota, on November 3, 1949.

Since Truman almost always dated his signature after he left the White House, he most likely signed this photograph as President.

The photo has small crazing marks, but they do not show unless the light strikes them at just the right angle.  The lower right corner is also creased.  Overall the photo is in fine condition.

The photo has been double matted in bronze suede with an engraved brass identification plate. It is framed in a gilt wood frame.
