William Howard Taft, 1857-1930. 27th President of the United States, 1909-1913; Chief Justice of the United States, 1921-1930. Magnificent 8" x 11" bust portrait photograph inscribed and signed as Chief Justice, With best wishes / Wm H Taft. Taft has dated the photograph Washington, [D.C.], July 25, 1927.
This is a beautiful photograph—one of the best that we have seen in years. The 4" x 6" black-and-white image is printed on embossed white photographic paper bearing the blind embossed stamp of the Baker Art Gallery, Columbus, Ohio. Taft has boldly inscribed and signed in black ink.
This photograph is in excellent condition. There are mounting remnants on the reverse, but they do not affect the image.
