John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 1917-1963.  35th President of the United States, 1961-1963.  Typed Letter Signed, John Kennedy, one page, 8” x 10˝”, on stationery of the United States Senate, [Washington, D.C.], December 8, 1955.

Kennedy, a Navy man, recounts for a constituent how strongly he has protested the closing of two Massachusetts Coast Guard stations that he deems vital.  He writes, in part:  “I want you to know that I have protested vigorously to the Commandant of the Coast Guard concerning the closing of these Coast Guard Stations and it is my hope that the matter will be reconsidered and will result in the retention of these vitally needed stations.”  He assures the constituent of his “continued interest and desire to be of all possible assistance in this connection.”

The letter bears an unusually legible blue fountain pen signature.  It has two normal mailing folds, one of which goes through the signature.  It is in very fine condition.

Unframed.
