1019307 War-Dated Prisoner Letter from the Dachau Concentration Camp Scroll down to see the image of the item below the description "I wish the little girl would behave as before and were so obedient as then, as though I were still at home." Autograph Letter Signed, Bolehovská Roman, three pages, with integral leaf attached, 5½" x 8¾", on inmate stationery of the Dachau Concentration Camp, Dachau, Germany, December 10, 1944. In German, with translation. The inmate writes to his wife and children. In full: “Accept hearty greetings from me. I am healthy and hope to be able to take the same thing about you for granted. Your first letter, which overjoyed me, reached me on December 7. But your letters did not give me a sense whether you are still manufacturing maps and how things really are with you. . . . I am happy that Jausa has better pay. But they do not say what Marta does or whether she is staying with Plisa. If it is necessary, use Svestka and others who can be helpful. Next time write more about how things are going with you. I wish the little girl would behave as before and were so obedient as then, as though I were still at home. I send the little Bozenka many kisses and hope the time is not so far away when I will again hear her twitter. As for letters, write them every 14 days, do not forget the complete address, and also cite the district number. Send packages regularly every week, and if you do not have enough baked goods and other things, it is enough to send me 3 kilograms of loaves of bread and smoked items. If you have loaves and beechnuts, send them as possible. I will end with that and greet you all. At the same time, I send you sincere Christmas and New Year's wishes and want yours to be realized. Also greet relatives and acquaintances. Express shipments, registered packages, and registered letters are now not allowed." He adds a postscript: “So far I have not received the package.” This is a nice example, boldly and clearly penned. The upper outside corner is missing because of the way in which the letter was sealed, and remnants appear at the bottom of that page. Otherwise, there are a couple of holes where the horizontal and two vertical folds cross, and the vertical fold has a ¾" split at the top. The letter is in very good to fine condition overall and would clearly be fine but for the missing corner. It is priced accordingly. Unframed. This item has been sold.
